Welcome

Welcome from Helen Woodland, Group Director for Adults, Health and Integration

I am delighted that you are interested in working for Hackney Council and within Adult Social Care, where you can make a visible difference to the lives of local people. In Hackney we believe in and embody inclusive leadership, enabling us to stand out as an authority that will do the best for our staff and our residents.

Hackney is an incredible place to work with a strong history of working in partnership with communities and residents. We actively tackle inequalities and are an anti-racist organisation, committed to driving change across the system. We know that by working together with partners we can tackle the unprecedented challenges that we face, learning from and co-producing with residents the way that we design and deliver services.

Our vision in adult social care is ‘building on strengths and making connections’. So what does this mean? For our senior management team, it means the ability to work unconstrained to deliver the best possible outcomes we can for residents; enabling innovation, flexible approaches and always with the support to try something new. For our managers, it means creating the right culture and environment where we can work constructively to find solutions. For our staff, we recognise their skills and value them for the hard work they do every day to support those we work with. And for our residents, this means we help them to achieve what matters to them, in partnership, so that they keep safe, well and independent.

As a part of the new senior management team, there is a real opportunity to create and shape visible and lasting change. If you are an inspirational leader who drives transformation and can work across the health and social care landscape to affect positive outcomes, then we would love to hear from you.

Best of luck with your application.

Welcome letter from Cllr Kennedy, Lead Member for Adult Social Care

As the lead cabinet member for Adults Social Care I am so pleased that you’re considering applying for the role of Director of Adult Social Care Operations at Hackney Council.

Hackney is, in my opinion, a really special borough - steeped in history and home to one of London’s most diverse populations.

All of our colleagues have the opportunity to improve the lives of our residents every day, and our residents and service users are at the heart of everything we do. This is particularly evident in our Adult Social Care directorate, where we ensure that all adults living in the borough have access to the support they need to live their best possible lives.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for successfully delivering the Mayor’s priorities, the council’s corporate objectives, and the business objectives of adult social care. This role will no doubt be challenging, but will also be incredibly rewarding for the successful candidate as you’ll have the opportunity to actively improve our offering for everyone who uses our service. If this prospect appeals to you, we’d love to hear from you.

I’d like to wish you the best of luck with your application.

Cllr Kennedy
Lead Member for Adult Social Care
